    Western Food Culture Nigga
Written by deez niggas Karin, Laura
Our focus is on (especially) the American fast food industry and culture. We mean to compare America with Denmark.
The entire West is getting fatter by the second. The reason is mainly the change in our attitude to food. The unhealthy fast food is easy and cheap, and our boobs paychecks (especially in America) are small. The greater part of the Western population do not exercise a great deal, and this - coupled with unhealthy food, filled with sugar, fat and salt - equals overweight populations. {http://casurf.accela.jp/Fat%20american.JPG} Uncle Jack needs you!... “U.S. Seeks New Limits on Food Ads for Children”
    ...
    Times by dat William Neuman,
The federal government proposed new guidelines in April 2011 concerning advertisement for fast food directed at children. Many fast food chains and –companies use cartoon characters, who appear in television commercials and online games. The government ties advertising to childhood obesity, they suggest that there is a darker side to cartoon characters like Cap’n Crunch and Ronald McDonald. The governments new guidelines are meant to be voluntary, but the fast food companies are likely to be pressured into adopting them. According to the article “the F.T.C. said that in 2006, food companies spent nearly $2.3 billion to advertise to children.”The guidelines want the foods that are advertised to children to meet two basic requirements: they would have to contain certain healthy ingredients like whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, or low-fat milk. And they could not contain unhealthful amounts of sugar, saturated fat, trans fat and salt.

Obesity and overweight in the Western world
One of the big questions many people ask themselves is: 'Why is the population getting so overweight?'
What is the definition of obesity and overweight?
If you have a BMI equal or over 25 you are overweight. If your BMI reaches a level equal or over 30 you are obese. BMI stands
good for “Body Mass Index”. Your BMI is found by dividing your height with your height multiplied with itself. But BMI does not take in to account how your bone and muscle structure are constructed.
    Why are people getting fat?
There is no simple answer to this question, but if you look at the statistics for the American adult population, you will see big changes in 20 years. In 1980 14% of the adult population of the USA was obese, by 2000 the figure reached 31%. (Citations)
Basically you get fat because you eat more energy/calories than your body can burn. With the excess energy/calories having no where to go, the body stores the unused energy/calories in the body in shape of fat. If you do not eat the "right" food or burn off your excess energy/calories, you will become fat because some food might give you the needed energy but leaves you with no feeling of satiety. And then you will have to eat more. For example provides fast-food a lot of energy, however, the wrong kind. The energy in the fast-food does not give you a sense of fullness, that you need. Fast-food has also a lack of vitamins. Therefore is fast-food very unhealthy.
Fast-food, however, is very accessible and in large amounts and is very cheap as well. Therefore many people choose to grab a BigMc on their way home instead of making their own healthier and more expensive dinner.
Fast-food chains have with great success branded themselves - especially to children. They have accomplished to brand their unhealthy food in a way that makes it look healthy. Just look at McDonald burger in a McDonald commercial and compare it to a real one. The one you see in the commercials looks more delicious and healthier than the real one. Because of regulations the fast-food chains are obliged to transparently tell the costumer in restaurants how much energy their meal contains, however, many people do not really mind.
The lack of exercise is also a crucial part in regards to people getting fatter. If people drive around in their cars all day, they will unavoidably become overweight. And their bodies will "decay" because of no exercise. Walking a lot is a start but it is not enough to help shave off excess body fat; it's an everyday exercise/movement that people do to get from point A to point B.
    What is Obese?
What are the consequences of obesity and overweight?
Heart disease and stroke, diabetes, cancers, sleep apnea, arthritis, gout and gallbladder disease are just a few of the many possible consequences of obesity and overweight. The more obese your are the more exposed are
    you to the diseases.
People who are overweight or obese will often have a low self-esteem, which may lead to depressions.
Other consequences are: being bullied and/or cyber-bullied, targeted by cannibals, and can't do any physical activity with precision, accuracy, and energy.
